The small villages of Lofer, St Martin and Unken lie in the Saalach valley in the Pinzgau region.

They are pretty villages, popular with visitors throughout the year.

In summer there is walking and kayaking on the river. The water park Erlebnisanlage Steinbergbad is also a favourite with guests.

Lofer is an attractive little town lies along the valley from Salzburg to Saalfelden / Zell am See. If offers a nice range of shops and supermarkets as well as a varied offering of hotels. There are nice coffee shops and sufficient to keep a visitor contented for any holiday visit. Salzburg and its airport are easily reachable and other ski resorts such as Maria Alm, Zell am See, Kaprun, Saalbach-Hinterglemm and others are within easy reach for a day's skiing.

In winter there is downhill skiing on the Lofereralm and over 80 kilometres of cross country skiing. This offers ten assorted ski lifts offering some really attractive family skiing in wonderful surroundings.

In nearby Unken lies the Heutal which offers some simple skiing for families with small children or for those seeking somewhere quieter. It also offers cross country skiing and tobogganing.
