Saalfelden is a nice market town with great shops, hotels and restaurants but most visitors to the region make the mistake of "just passing by".

Actually it makes a great base because there are ski resorts in every direction. Zell am See, Kaprun, Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Leogang, Lofer, Maria Alm, Hintertal, Dienten and Mühlbachtal ski areas are all close by.

If you normally hire a car on arrival at the airport then give this resort a closer look.
